DAYTIME

Wild Blueberry Festival

Wild? You want wild? At this year’s azure-fruit fandango, the cask-conditioned blueberry beer on tap took the collaboration of no less than four breweries and brewpubs to come to, er, fruition. If the crafted concoction is not to everyone’s taste, other highlights include a pie bake-off and bush-picking expeditions, along with panels and demonstrations on all things blueberry.

Aug. 23, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Free. Evergreen Brick Works, 550 Bayview Ave., evergreen.ca/wildblueberry.

ONE NIGHT ONLY

Lenny Kravitz

Did mama say anything about wearing underwear whilst performing in leather pants? The funky singer-guitarist Lenny Kravitz mesmerized the Internet recently when his disloyal trousers caused a major wardrobe malfunction on stage. The Mama Said singer took the mishap in stride and with good humour, befitting a stone-free, superfly artist whose latest album isn’t called Strut for nothing. Aug. 26, 6:30 p.m. $53.75 to $112.75.

Molson Amphitheatre, 909 Lake Shore Blvd. W., 1-855-985-5000 or ticketmaster.ca.

FOR THE KIDS

Canadian National Exhibition

Somewhere in the history of civilization the idea of combining outrageous food preparations with stomach-hazarding round-and-round “amusement-park” rides was hatched. So, the Twister and the Mega Drop, with cotton candy and deep-fried whatevers. Perhaps the idea was to get kids so dizzy, queasy and disorientated that they’d be all too happy to return to the relative steadiness and sereneness of school.

Aug. 21 to Sept. 7, 10 a.m. to midnight. $15 to $18 (family pass, $52). Toronto Exhibition Place, theex.com.

FESTIVALS

Camp Wavelength

Camping music happenings are popping up here, there and willy-nilly, but there is only one tent-friendly festival in Toronto. Sleeping bags and open ears are welcome at Artscape Gibraltar Point, for three days of healthy vibes and post-rock free spirits (Do Make Say Think), work-boot alt-country (the Wooden Sky) and heaven-spun songstress fare (the Weather Station).

Aug. 28 to 30. $20 to $35 (passes, $75 to $150). Toronto Island, wavelengthtoronto.com.

OUT OF TOWN

Port Credit Busker Fest

Those looking for entertainment of the wacky, panhandling kind are welcome to wait until the Toronto Busker Festival (Aug. 27 to 30), or they can head to Port Credit for circle shows featuring such acts as a human knot, a balloon-animal maestro and more than one pyro enthusiast. Yes, their skills are impractical and random, but these extroverts live to flabbergast and bring joy, Silver Elvises notwithstanding.

To Aug 23. Free (tips encouraged). Hurontario Street and Lakeshore Road East, Mississauga. portcreditbuskerfest.com.
