In a nutshell
Through our eclectic mix of designers, curated playlists and lighthearted personalities, Convey strives to connect its surrounding community to many aspects of culture in a space that allows everyone to feel at home.
The Story
We've both worked in retail for a very long time even though we're both under the age of 25, so it's all that we know and love. We noticed a void, especially here in Toronto. It's a very saturated market for new and exciting brands – that's why we started Convey, we noticed there was something missing. People were wearing the same clothes and same styles and we wanted to source something different. In trying to come up with a name, our friend asked us what message we were trying to convey to our customers and that sat really well with us. Like the word itself, fashion is about making an idea or impression known, beginning with your outfit.
The Stock
Currently, we're working with 26 international designers who are primarily sourced from Australia and New Zealand. They're on the opposite side of the world, which is where a lot of the up-and-coming designers have yet to come to the North American market are. We realized if we wanted to find labels that have yet to be represented here in Canada, then we needed to go explore. We were invited to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Australia and that's where we sourced most of the labels that we're working with. We also have a couple lines from the United States and are always looking to source any designers lacking proper representation here in Canada. It's an on-going journey; we're always searching for the next best thing.
The philosophy
We can both agree that shopping isn't always a pleasant experience and is often an intimidating experience, so we want to make it the opposite. Shopping is the perfect outlet to convey your personal message. You can take a different route – we don't want to sell a product, we're here to help our customers find a piece that makes them walk different and give them a special feeling.
The buy
The Ecstasy Loafer by Extraordinary Ordinary Day is the perfect pairing to the wide assortment of clothing we offer in store. It's created in exclusive colours thoughtfully chosen by designer Ash Lim and can change your entire outfit, and we swear by how comfortable they are! $398
