Electrical fire at St. Michael’s Hospital quickly contained Add to ...

An electrical fire that broke out at St. Michael’s Hospital in downtown Toronto Tuesday evening has been contained, according to Toronto Emergency Medical Services.

The fire was in an area on the 12th floor that had no patients, and EMS said they made no evacuations.

The 14th floor is running on backup power.

After diverting all trauma cases to other hospitals, St. Mike’s is accepting them again.

The hospital’s high-demand ER remains open.

Toronto Hydro, the fire department and the hospital are investigating the cause of the fire.
