Five in hospital after shooting in Toronto’s upscale Yorkville area Add to ...

Toronto police are investigating a shooting at a club in the upscale Yorkville area that landed five people in hospital.

Shots rang out early Sunday morning at the Empire Restaurant and Lounge on Cumberland Street.

Police say a woman was taken to a trauma centre with a gunshot wound and four other people managed to get themselves to hospital.

It’s not clear whether the four also suffered gunshot wounds, but police say none of their injuries are life-threatening.

Police say they have a man in custody and have recovered a gun.

No names, or details concerning a possible motive have been released.
