Singer Suzie Vinnick.

The Heart of Robin Hood
Sure, you know him as a high-minded Saxon yeoman with a decidedly socialist bent, but before his lady friend Maid Marion made him a better man, the famous Sherwood Forest swashbuckler really put the "hood" in Robin Hood. An energetic and acrobatic musical revises the story of a wealth-redistributing renegade who evidently was the Marion type, if not the marrying type. To March 1. $45 to $130. Royal Alexandra Theatre, 260 King St. W., 416-872-1212 or mirvish.com.

Suzie Vinnick
The title of her 2012 Juno-nominated album Me 'N Mabel refers to a winning relationship – that of a singer-songwriter and her Canadian-built maple and spruce parlour guitar. Suzie Vinnick uses her honeyed voice along with her instrument to make folk music and blues that are uniquely presented, sometimes softly and other times with vigour. She and Mabel have a good thing going, with strings absolutely attached. Dec. 28, 8:30 p.m. $22.50 to $25. Hugh's Room, 2261 Dundas St. W., 416-531-6604 or hughsroom.com.

The Christmas Flower Show
If you think all the seasonal horticulture should be done away with the second the presents are unwrapped, you're missing the poinsettia. Under the glass-domed Palm House at the Allan Gardens Conservatory, the stellar topiary pieces remain on display until Jan. 11, thus allowing for viewing beyond the frantic holiday hubbub. To Jan. 11. Allan Gardens Conservatory, 19 Horticultural Ave., 416-392-2489 or www.toronto.ca.

Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music
Whiskers on kittens and warm woollen mittens? The character Maria von Trapp in the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical is highly specific when it comes to naming her favourite things, and while we too like kitty faces, there's nothing we appreciate more than the glorious Julie Andrews. She's the unsinkable young Austrian in the 1965 Oscar-winning film, presented here in participative form– costumes encouraged. To Dec. 28. $16 to $22.75. TIFF Bell Lightbox, 350 King St. W., 416-599-8433 or tiff.net.

Venus in Fur
There's not much happening on Mars, but there is all sorts of life to this Venus. David Ives's erotic two-hander, the hit of the 2013 Toronto theatre season, returns for one more victory lap, with Rick Miller and Carly Street back as a director and actress who play an S&M game in which the balance of power in the audition room is tipped. To Dec. 28. $29 to $59. Berkeley Street Theatre, 26 Berkeley St., 416-368-3110 or canstage.com.
