On Friday, the quotable humorist Fran Lebowitz will toss around witticisms at Massey Hall, set up capably by Jian Ghomeshi, the CBC Radio One personality who makes his living asking questions. "Polite conversation is rarely either" is the type of bon mot typical of Ms. Lebowitz, a modern-day Dorothy Parker who should get along famously with Mr. Ghomeshi, known for his preparedness and bedroom-voiced "Well, hello there." Perhaps the New York author will do her research as well, and discover that the Q host has just published a memoir, 1982. Ms. Lebowitz, a former columnist with Andy Warhol's Interview magazine who has made sharp comments on the subject of life stories, might have some fun with that, moving the conversation in directions other than polite. Happy Friday, then, for all.

Fran Lebowitz: In Conversation with Jian Ghomeshi, Nov. 2, 8 p.m. $37.50 to $57.50. Massey Hall, 60 Victoria St., 416-872-4255 or masseyhall.com.
