According to the consultants, the $13.5-billion RER would lead to 135-per-cent growth in GO ridership, from 54 million in 2014 to 127 million by 2029.Ian Willms/The Globe and Mail

GO Transit trains were cancelled or delayed today after a person was struck and killed in west-end Toronto.

Details of the track-level fatality were not immediately available.

However, it caused major ripples throughout the system.

Thousands of people were stranded or delayed, and, at one point, GO used shuttle buses to ease the load.

It took several hours before regular service began resuming.
