A man is in hospital after he was allegedly stabbed by a man wielding a machete in downtown Toronto.

Toronto paramedics say the 35-year-old man was stabbed several times in the upper body on Friday.

They say his injuries were serious, but not life threatening.

Police say they used a conducted energy weapon on the alleged attacker, who was then taken into custody.

They say he was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

There's no word on charges, and police are looking for witnesses to come forward with information.
