Man drowns in Lake Ontario at Toronto waterfront Add to ...

A man in his 20s has died after falling into Lake Ontario early today.

Toronto police received a call shortly before 4 a.m. from a man who said his friend had fallen into the lake at the foot of Yonge Street while trying to dip his hand into the water.

The man was found submerged and pulled out of the water.

EMS says he was unconscious and taken to St. Michael's Hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

The man's name has not been released.

Police are investigating.
