Residents in Ward 6 can rest easy: Toronto police say they have caught the suspected Etobicoke prowler, and have also charged his wife.

Police have laid 95 charges, including break-and-enter (commit), sexual assault and mischief, on 32-year-old Anieph Fitzroy Burton and seven charges on his wife, Jehanneiry Beaton. The offences occurred over a three-year span in Etobicoke South from August, 2011, to August, 2014.

Inspector Joanna Beaven-Desjardins said it was a "frustrating" investigation.

"He would hit a cluster and then would stop," Insp. Beaven-Desjardins said in an update at police headquarters. "Great ending to a long investigation."

There were 59 occurrences, according to Insp. Beaven-Desjardins.

She described Burton as a nimble "sexual predator" who lived in the area.

The investigation was a combined effort by 22 Division and Sex Crimes. Toronto police enlisted an OPP criminal profiler to help with the investigation.

Although the alleged suspects are caught, Insp. Beaven-Desjardins urged Ward 6 Toronto residents to "remain vigilant and secure your belongings at all times."

Burton could be responsible for break-ins in other parts of Toronto and Peel Region, according to police.

Beaton allegedly helped on several occasions. Police say she was the get-away driver.

She has been charged with six counts of break-and-enter (commit) and one count of attempt to commit.

Jewellery, cellphones and a vehicle, which was used for another robbery, were among the items police said were stolen.

Media first reported the large number of break-ins in Etobicoke on July, 2014. The area has seen as many as 23 break-ins and sexual assaults since 2012, all evening incidents.

In 2012, a 62-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by a masked man who entered her home near Bloor Street West and Islington Avenue.

Other break-in and assaults were reported by residents close to Royal York Road and Norseman Street, Gort Avenue and Enfield Avenue.

The prowler's territory stretched from Lake Shore Boulevard West to Bloor Street West and Park Lawn Road to Brown's Line, about a five-kilometre spread both ways.
