A man's body has been found inside a burned-out shed in Toronto's east end.

The body was discovered by fire crews responding to a blaze Tuesday night.

It's not immediately clear what caused the fire but police say the man may have been sleeping inside the shed and had possibly built a fire to keep warm.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at McCowan Road and Sheppard Avenue around 10:30 p.m. for a fire in the back of a commercial building.

Once the flames were extinguished, the body was found. The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate.

The incident follows the deaths of three homeless people last week while the city was gripped by freezing temperatures.
