More arrests have been made in connection with the disappearance of a Toronto real estate agent and at least one person is now charged with first-degree murder.

Jianguo (Tony) Han was abducted from a palatial house that he was trying to sell in Mississauga on Jan. 20, along with the home's owner, Jun (Johnny) Fei. Mr. Fei turned up injured a few days later, but Mr. Han has been missing ever since.

On Tuesday, the investigation led police to a house in Markham where human remains were found buried in the basement. Police said they still have not made a positive identification of the body.

Several people were previously charged with kidnapping the two men in a ransom bid. They are Senthuran Sabesan, 23, of Waterloo, Ont.; Hinthurjin Baskaran, 21, of Toronto; and two other adults whose identities have been made secret by a court order. There is also a warrant out for Guo Wei Wu, 43, who further faces an assault charge. Police say he may have fled to Montreal or Vancouver.

Police refused to release the names of those arrested Wednesday or a full list of charges against them. They are expected to appear in court Thursday morning.
