A pedestrian has been hit and killed by a GO train in Toronto, causing major delays for commuters during Wednesday's morning rush.

GO Transit says service on several lines have been cancelled because of the fatality, while many others experienced delays.

The company says the incident occurred around 8 a.m. near its Danforth station in eastern Toronto.

Full service resumed several hours later.
