Police hunting taxi driver in alleged sex assault Add to ...

Toronto police are hunting a taxi driver alleged to have sexually assaulted a woman on the city’s east side on the weekend.

The woman was waiting for a bus near Gerrard Street and Broadview Avenue at around 12:45 a.m. Saturday when an orange-and-turquoise taxi drove past her, then circled back.

The driver asked if she needed a ride, the woman replied that she had insufficient money, but he agreed to take her home anyway and when they reached her address he assaulted her, police said.

The man is described as aged 45 to 50, with a light-brown complexion, receding hair and a thin build.

Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to contact police at 416-808-7474, or anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
