Teen charged with murder after man's stabbing near Markham library Add to ...

York regional police have charged a teenager with first-degree murder after a 28-year-old man was stabbed to death near a Markham library early Sunday morning.

After receiving a 911 call about an incident involving possible weapons, police and paramedics arrived at the Markham Village Library on Highway 7 to discover a man, Allen Constance, bleeding from stab wounds. Mr. Constance, a resident of Markham, was transported to hospital, but died shortly after he arrived.

Later Sunday morning, police apprehended a 17-year-old man and charged him with first-degree murder. The teen, whose name cannot be released under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is scheduled to appear in Newmarket court on Monday. A post-mortem examination of Mr. Constance is also scheduled to take place Monday.
