I was distressed by Margaret Wente's flawed argument (Foreign Doctors, Our Values - Feb. 3). The majority of these doctors are superbly trained international medical graduates.
We all bring our values to the workplace. I know there are hundreds of Canadian-born and trained MDs who refuse to dispense contraceptives or contraceptive advice; purposely stall on giving abortion information; refuse to see or accept patients who are too old, who are homosexual, who have certain infectious diseases or who are "too sick."
I am not condoning the decision of the doctor in question not to treat the lesbian couple. However, to intimate that Canadian-born doctors have superior values is absurd.
