Toronto police have charged a man with attempted murder in connection with a weekend shooting.

Police were called to a shooting around 4 a.m. Saturday (near Kennedy Road and Ellesmere Road) in the city's northeast corner.

They say a 43-year-old man was shot several times in multiple parts of his body and sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A Toronto man was arrested early this morning and charged with seven offences, including firearms-related charges.

Derrick Brown, 35, is charged with attempted murder while using a firearm, firearm discharge endangering life and careless use of a firearm, among other offences.

He is scheduled to appear in court this morning.
