Toronto police have charged 22 people after a three-week drug investigation involving undercover officers.

Police say the suspects face a total of 59 charges and many were already before the courts on other charges.

They say the investigation targeted eight downtown areas in response to community concerns about illegal drug activity.

Those areas include several intersections along Queen Street West and King Street West in the Parkdale neighbourhood.

Police say they will continue to increase patrols in those areas.
