Transit riders could track the arrival of their bus briefly Tuesday morning when the TTC NextBus feed accidentally went live.

The mistaken launch sent waves of excitement through the transit-taking public. The error was recognized by TTC, who swiftly ordered the feed disabled.

It plans to test the system throughout May and launch it officially in June.

"There are still some issues we need to work through at this end," said TTC spokesman Brad Ross. The data for streetcars are already available and have been used to fuel iPhone apps like RocketRadar. NextBus also offers their own free app-like solution in the form of a mobile website.

The company still needs to make sure the technology can handle all of the requests.

"[We]want to make sure we can support all of that data that starts to flow," said Mr. Ross.
