A 47-year-old Toronto transit driver is facing impaired driving charges after witnesses alerted police to some erratic driving.
Police stopped the bus Wednesday night in the city's north end, on Senlac Road in the Finch and Yonge area.
Const. Hugh Smith says the driver was allegedly exhibiting signs of impairment while driving and given a sobriety test.
Const. Smith says there was "enough evidence to arrest the driver for allegedly driving while impaired by drugs."
However, Bob Kinnear, the head of the transit union, says the driver has been on prescribed medications for several months and was not told that the medication might cause impairment.
The unidentified driver has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 24.
In March, a Toronto transit bus driver lost her driver's licence for three days following a roadside breath test.
Police said the driver was not legally impaired, but had enough alcohol in her system to warrant the licence suspension.Report Typo/Error
