Man charged in double stabbing in Brampton, Ont. Add to ...

A 46-year-old Brampton, Ont., man is charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder after a double stabbing that left a woman dead and a man in hospital.

Peel Regional Police say officers called to a home in Brampton on Kingknoll Drive in the Steeles Avenue and Mavis Road area on Tuesday night found a man and a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The victims were taken to hospital but police say the woman, 51-year-old Anita Summan of Brampton, died of her injuries.

The man, identified as Gurkharan Doal, 46, of Brampton, remains in hospital in life-threatening condition.

Iqbal Singh is scheduled for a bail hearing on Thursday.
