Inside Hamas was almost a year in the making.
Its premise was simple: that Hamas was likely to play a prominent role in Palestinians’ future, and that would lead to the perennial question of whether the group should be engaged in normal political relations. Since most people know little about the makeup of the group, other than some common images of its terrorist background, Patrick Martin, the Globe's Middle East correspondent, thought it a good idea to go inside and talk to many of its members.
