Three people were killed and two more were critically injured in a shooting in a south Kansas City neighbourhood on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Law enforcement officials were called to the residential area known as Woodbridge, located near an upscale country club, about 1 p.m.

A Kansas City police twitter feed confirmed the shootings and said the main road through the area had been closed down.

The shooter was still at large, according to local media.

The Kansas City Star reported that police found one person dead outside one home and two more people who had been shot inside that home. Two more victims were found in another nearby home, the Star reported.
