Crashing the G20

Globe and Mail Update

The G8 and G20 summits mean all hands on deck when it comes to police officers. Thousands of officers from across the country will be working during the two summits in Huntsville and Toronto, controlling traffic, manning the fences and generally trying to keep everyone safe (we hope). But that means that some regular duties are going to suffer.

The Toronto police announced today that two collision reporting centres will be affected by the summit. The West Collision Reporting Centre, at 855 Oxford Street in Etobicoke, will be closed from 9 p.m. tonight until Monday June 28.

No police will be working at the North Collision Centre from Monday 21 to Monday 28 and the East Collision Reporting Centre, located at 39 Howden Road in Scarborough.

Traffic is expected to be a major issue next week, with fences cutting through the downtown core and motorcades beginning their arrival in the city on Friday. But don't get in an accident, okay?
