It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a terrifying display of military might

Globe and Mail Update

Remember when some U.S. fighter jet did a fly by of the Statue of Liberty for a photo op, scaring the crap out of New Yorkers? Well get ready for a surprise! Thursday and Friday, The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and the Canadian NORAD Region (CANR) will conduct Exercise Amalgam Virgo in the south-central Ontario region as part of their prep for the summits. The exercise will involve Canadian Forces CF-18 Hornet fighter jets and CH-124 Sea King and CH-146 Griffon helicopters flying at low altitudes. Residents in the exercise area may hear aircraft noise and perhaps see aircraft flying at various times throughout the day. So don’t be too alarmed if you see a fighter plane bearing down on the CN Tower.
