A gunman in a gas mask hurled a gas canister and opened fire in a sold out Colorado theatre during a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises Friday July 20, 2012, killing 12 people and injuring several dozen more in one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history. The accused gunman, James Holmes, 24, was arrested near a car behind the theatre.
