Surely there are more options for Alberta to reduce its greenhouse emissions than either a strict carbon tax or some cap-and-trade system?

Commentators usually fail to remind us that the Alberta has no provincial sales tax, while taxpayers in B.C. and Ontario are being hit with the harmonized sales tax (HST) recommended by the federal government. Eventually, we will all suffer from the flagrant disregard in Alberta for the environment and its effect on human lives. Let Alberta raise money through a harmonized provincial sales tax to clean up the tar sands and reduce emissions.
