Marina Jimenez again attacks Cuba in her article A Cuban Holiday From Hell (June 27).

Onelia Ross did not have her documents in order to travel to Cuba and, as a result, and according to our laws, she was kept in custody to clarify her status. Cuban authorities raised the possibility of an immediate return to Canada but she rejected this option. Ms. Ross understood and accepted all the explanations that were given to her by the Cuban authorities. She was never mistreated in Cuba.

She was given a fair and proper treatment in our consulate in Ottawa, in accordance with the services she requested. She is fully responsible for what happened to her, and we are amazed at the way this incident has been manipulated and distorted.
