While a new study indicates high-dose vitamin C supplementation may increase the risk of cataracts, there's also evidence it may be beneficial to eye health (High-Dose Vitamin C Can Increase Cataract Risk - Jan. 27). One study showed promise in preventing diabetic retinopathy, a leading cause of adult blindness. Tossing out supplements based on the latest study is at best foolhardy. Canadians need good information when making those choices; the latest study doesn't always provide this.
