Gerry Phillips, To The Board of Directors, Ontario Power Generation

Jake Epp, Chairman of Ontario Power Generation, is pleased to announce the appointment of Gerry Phillips to the OPG Board of Directors.

Mr. Phillips is a former management consultant who served in six provincial cabinet portfolios, including two periods as Ontario's Minister of Energy.

Before entering public life, Mr. Phillips studied at the University of Western Ontario's School of Business, and worked in the marketing department of Procter & Gamble. In 1970, he joined the consulting firm of Canadian Marketing Associates and became president in 1977. He later founded two successful spin-off companies - the Sales Development Group and the Retail Resource Group. By 1987, he was chair of all three companies which had a combined workforce of 300.

Over 24 years, Mr. Phillips won six consecutive elections in the East Toronto riding of Scarborough-Agincourt before stepping down from active politics in September 2011. Mr. Phillips served as Ontario's Minister of Energy from 2007 to 2008, and carried this portfolio again on an interim basis in 2009, when he was appointed Minister of Energy and Infrastructure.

As Ontario's largest electricity producer, OPG's focus is on generating low-cost electricity in a safe, open and environmentally responsible manner.
