The Board of Directors of Canexus Corporation announced that Hugh Fergusson has been appointed Chair of the Board, effective at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders on May 9, 2013.
Mr. Fergusson has served as a Director of Canexus since its initial public offering in 2005. He has served on the boards of a variety of public, private, and not-for-profit corporations since his retirement from The Dow Chemical Company in 2004. He is currently a board member of AltaGas Ltd. and serves as Vice-Chair of the Alberta Electric Systems Operator.
Mr. Fergusson has a Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University, a Doctor of Juris from the University of Windsor and received his ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors in 2006.
Dennis Flanagan, who has served as the Canexus Board Chair for the past seven years, has retired from the Board. "Hugh brings to his new role a breadth of knowledge and expertise in operations, finance, compensation and governance matters, and the Board is confident that he'll be an outstanding steward of investor interests", said Mr. Flanagan.
Canexus Corporation is a public company whose common shares (CUS) and debentures (CUS.DB, CUS.DB.A and CUS.DB.B) trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Canexus produces sodium chlorate and chlor-alkali products and also provides fee-for-service hydrocarbon transloading services to the oil and gas industry from its terminal in Bruderheim, Alberta.
