At the Annual Meeting of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) held June 20-21 in Montréal, Jacques Lafrance, BScAct, FCIA, FS, assumed the office of President for 2013–2014.
M. Lafrance is currently a senior consultant with the global professional services firm Towers Watson in Montréal.
He qualified as an actuary with the CIA and the Society of Actuaries (SOA) in 1982.
M. Lafrance is a Silver Award recipient, in recognition of his volunteer contributions to the CIA for many years, most recently chairing its Pension Advisory Committee and serving as its President-elect.
The Canadian Institute of Actuaries is the national organization and voice of the actuarial profession in Canada. The Institute is dedicated to serving the public through the provision, by the profession, of actuarial services and advice of the highest quality. In fact, the Institute holds the duty of the profession to the public above the needs of the profession and its members.
