The University of New Brunswick is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard J. Currie, O.C. as Chancellor Emeritus.
Richard J. Currie, O.C. attended UNB as a Beaverbrook Scholar and holds an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from UNB and a Doctor of Letters from Dalhousie. A graduate of Harvard Business School, he served for 25 years as president of Loblaw Companies, later becoming president of George Weston Ltd. In 2002, he was appointed the chair of BCE, Canada’s largest telecommunications company. CEO of the year in 2001 and an inductee of the Canadian Business Hall of Fame, Dr. Currie was named one of Canada’s 10 greatest chief executives of all-time by the Globe & Mail.
