Kelowna is the gateway to the Okanagan, and its farms participate in a Farm to Table program. This is a great self-guided way to explore the gorgeous countryside and get a peek at some of the state-of-the-art organic farms. Agri-tourism is a growing business in the region, and visitors can pick and choose their destinations. They can then follow the food they see being grown and raised onto the tables of the area's best chefs.

But a must-stop on your driving tour includes the Kelowna Farmer's and Crafters' Market. This takes place outdoors April through October and is covered the rest of the year, even though temperatures remain pleasant even in deepest winter. And depending on what is in season, the Tourism Kelowna has a listing of the area's many smaller farmers markets that pop up around growing cycles.

Of course, the Okanagan is a wine-growing region. The Kelowna Wine Trails located just minutes from the lakeside city. The horizon stretches with idyllic vineyards and orchards and local producers receive visitors for tastings year-round.
