To be held in Quebec from October 6 to 9, the 2014 International Summit of Cooperatives is a biennial global event where leaders of cooperative and mutual enterprises get together to discuss their concerns about the current and future business challenges they share. The summit is also an unequalled opportunity to forge valuable strategic alliances, stay abreast of major international development trends and gain a solid understanding of the global co-operative movement and the business opportunities it offers.
The inaugural summit was part of the 2012 International Year of Cooperatives, proclaimed by the United Nations, and aimed to raise public awareness about the invaluable contributions of co-operative enterprises to poverty reduction, employment generation and social integration. Building on the success of the 2012 summit, this year's event will again create a meeting place for decisions-makers, managers and influential persons to explore solutions to co-operatives' business growth and performance challenges.
