Churchill Meadows on the western frontier of Mississauga can be considered the last large-scale suburban development in this region.
More than 1,500 homes have already been built in this multiphase project since it first began more than five years ago, but the 273 semidetached lots that went on the market earlier this month will be the last.
They will also likely be among the last new, low-rise dwellings to be offered for sale on a suburban tract in rapidly growing Mississauga.
"This is one of the largest tracts of new land to be developed for low-rise housing in the last 12 to 15 years," said Domenic Bauco, director of sales and marketing for Arista Homes, one of three builders sharing the final phase of Churchill Meadows' development. "It was one of the first developments that embraced the concept of urbanism."
Almost two-thirds of the semis have already been sold after more than 2,000 registered interested buyers attended the preview of the development in early May. "It was great to see so many focused buyers here in one weekend," said Ron Baruch, vice-president of Paradise Homes.
The project is in high demand among first-time buyers and young families in this market. Along with the attractive pricing, in the $300,000 to $400,000 range, several designs feature four-bedroom layouts, vaulted ceilings in the main-floor living areas, and double-door entries.
For families with young children, the area also boasts a number of new schools nearby.
