Sundial Homes, which unveiled the townhouse collection at its Mulberry Meadows site in Ajax this summer, will open a new on-site sales office next month in conjunction with the release of semi-detached models.
Starting on Saturday, Oct. 4, buyers will be able to pick from among 20 semi-detached houses on 24-foot-wide lots, in addition to the freehold townhouses, at the development bordered by Carruthers Creek, on Rossland Road East, just west of Audley Road.
"While other builders do have some semis, there are not a whole lot available in Ajax," sales and marketing manager Trishia Seretean says. She adds that the Sundial project will offer "a bit of a unique type of semi that [is] really going to be of interest to people."
They will have 1,572 to 2,131 square feet of living space on three levels, with features such as electric fireplaces and kitchen islands. The properties also will have rear garages, basements, balconies and secondary entrances.
To date, first-time buyers and families have gravitated toward the three-storey townhouses, where move-ins will begin next fall. The first batch of semi-detached homes are expected to be completed by spring, 2010.
The builder is offering two types of townhouses: traditional models, called "promenade towns," with between 1,406 and 2,198 square feet of living space. "Urban towns" will have 1,058 to 1,805 square feet, but because they will be situated back to back, they will not have backyards.
Both styles will have large eat-in kitchens and main-floor family rooms.
Brick-and-stone exteriors will be standard throughout the community, while interiors will feature ceramic finishes, broadloom, and solid oak railings and pickets.
For one year, purchasers will receive a free Rogers package that includes a home phone, high-speed Internet with Norton anti-virus programs, and digital cable TV service, which represents $2,200 in savings.
Residents will have access to walking trails along the creek, as well as rolling meadows and parklands. Nearby amenities include schools, shopping centres, recreational facilities and public transit.
"It's a beautiful place to be living in Ajax," Ms. Seretean says.
"We're close to the [Highway] 401 and GO Transit."
On Oct. 5, between noon and 4 p.m., EZ Rock 97.3 FM will be on site, along with exotic animals from Nova's Ark, a registered charity that wants to build an education centre there that would offer outdoor experiences to children and young adults.
