LISTING AGENT Kevin Alvarez, Royal LePage Real Estate Services Ltd.
The Action: Historic homes are the mainstay of the Beaconsfield community where more than 100 home shoppers toured this detached Victorian, which scored four offers on account of its rare attributes.
What They Got: This heritage structure built circa 1885 on a 30-by-122-foot lot embodies tradition with a red brick façade, 10-foot ceilings and original stained glass and bay windows in formal living and dining rooms.
Restored hardwood floors and original reclaimed pine floors appear in most areas, save three bathrooms and a renovated kitchen with granite counters, an island and double doors to the deck and garden.
The top floor has three bedrooms, including one with a private bathroom and another with a Juliet balcony.
For storage, there is an unfinished basement and two-storey, double garage.
The Agent’s Take: “The location is key – it’s just up the street from The Drake and Queen West – so it’s walking distance to restaurants,” says agent Kevin Alvarez. “Beaconsfield Village is pretty in demand, especially that street because there are a lot of heritage homes.”
This one had many special features. “The owner did a fair amount of restoration work, so the floors, a lot of the trims and plaster mouldings were brought back to original form, so it was pretty impeccable that way,” Mr. Alvarez states.
“What drew people to this one, is that it had a private drive; a rare 30-foot frontage; and an old horse stable at the back could possibly be converted into a studio space or coach house.”
