LISTING AGENTS Douglas and Trevor Freeman, Freeman Real Estate Estate Ltd.

The Action: This detached bungalow is in an uptown community where many houses hit the multi-million mark, so its $1.149-million price tag caused commotion among buyers, many of whom quickly offered a premium for it.

What They Got: Various owners of this 1950s brick bungalow updated the mechanical systems and invested in contemporary finishes in the kitchen, two bathrooms and lower-level laundry room.

Crown mouldings and hardwood floors bring elegance to the fireside living room and dining room, while carpeting provides comfort in the three bedrooms, including a master suite with his and her closets.

Below the main floor is a double garage and recreation room with a walkout to a 45-by-132-foot lot with mature trees and southern exposures.

The Agent's Take: "In an area surrounded by homes that are already built up, there are only so many opportunities to build a new property and there are a lot of investors and renovators looking to do that," says agent Trevor Freeman. "Then there are people who want to get into the area and get priced out of those brand-new 3,500-square-foot, $2.5-million properties."

For buyers falling into the latter category, this house was move-in ready. "A lot of ... bungalows in areas like that are in need of a renovation immediately, but here, you don't have to do that," says Mr. Freeman. "The property was recently renovated, so it was quite nice."
