LISTING AGENTS Brennan Aguanno and Anna Kemp, Sotheby's International Realty Canada

The action: There were two similar one-bedroom units available on opposite sides of the Pure Spirit building last fall. This, the larger of the two and south-facing, garnered about 20 showings before a suitable offer emerged.

What they got: At the western gateway into the Distillery District is a dramatic triangular-shaped podium anchoring a seven-year-old high-rise home to commercial and residential properties, including loft-style units like this 639-square-foot unit with 10-foot concrete ceilings, exposed duct work and full-height windows.

  • Hardwood floors add warmth to an open living and dining area, linear kitchen with granite counters and stainless-steel appliances and a bedroom hidden behind sliding doors.
  • A four-piece bathroom and stacked laundry machines complete the unit, which also comes with a locker and $352 monthly towards the cost of water, heating, concierge, guest suites, gym, outdoor pool and rooftop garden.

The agent's take: "The Distillery District in general is really appealing and there's such a great little community there," agent Anna Kemp says.

"[This building's] architecture was done in a way that really ties in the brickwork and cobblestone surroundings, so it feels as though it's part of the original district. The lobby is filled with old photos and artifacts, again tying in that old charm."

This suite also had its own merits. "It did have a cute little Juliet balcony, the floor-to-ceiling windows were really nice, the tall ceilings and the views were all very appealing," Ms. Kemp notes.

"You overlook the Distillery District and you see these old buildings and that's really unique, so it's special being able to see something so historical in the middle of Toronto."
