The Action: Thornhill homeowners wanted a large Toronto property for under half a million, so agent Ira Jelinek suggested this two-storey townhouse near Earlscourt Park. It was the first place they toured, but given the low turnover in the complex, they were prepared to make a strong offer to beat out two other buyers.
What They Got: In a six-year-old condominium community, this end unit has the look of a brick brownstone and a modern interior with hardwood floors, plus parking in a common garage and monthly fees of $347.
The ground floor was designed with a den, a central kitchen with stainless steel appliances and a living and dining area with access to a patio.
The second floor is divided for three bedrooms and two full bathrooms, including a master ensuite.
The Agent's Take: "It's in a cute little area that's really developing at Davenport and Dupont," Mr. Jelinek said. "They're building a Metro just a stone's throw away, and it's very close to St. Clair West too, which is a happening area with a lot of good restaurants."
This unit's design also combined all the features the buyers wanted. "They knew they couldn't afford a house but they also didn't want a condominium in a building. So this fit the bill because it was a townhouse with a 'home' feel with multiple floors," Mr. Jelinek said.
"[Plus] it was an end unit … and it wasn't an interior unit, so there was more light."
