Brenda Milner is a professor in the department of neurology and neurosurgery at the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital at McGill University. She is widely attributed with creating the field of cognitive neuroscience, the study of the brain and behaviour, for her fundamental contributions to the science of memory and cognitive functioning.
Ms. Milner’s post-graduate studies in experimental psychology became part of the research implemented in World War II. As an officer in the Ministry of Supply at the Radar Research and Development Establishment, Ms. Milner evaluated the methods of display and control for radar operators.
In 2007, she launched the Brenda Milner Foundation to support postdoctoral fellowships in cognitive neuroscience at the Montreal Neurological Institute.
At 92 years old, Ms. Milner is still active in teaching and research.
