Agrium Inc. says its dividend is going to more than double, reflecting its confidence in the future outlook.

The new semi-annual payout to shareholders will be 50 cents per share, up from 2-1/4 cents per share previously.

The Calgary-based company sells fertilizer wholesale globally and operates a North American retail operation.
