Air Canada flight attendants reject second tentative agreement

The Canadian Press

Air Canada's flight attendants have rejected a second tentative agreement with the airline and have given strike notice.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees, which represents the flight attendants, says they'll be in a legal strike position at 12:01 a.m. Oct. 13.

A news release posted on CUPE's website says of those who voted, 65 per cent opted to reject the deal hammered out last month.

It's not expected any walkout would last long.

A strike by Air Canada customer service staff earlier this year ended after three days because the federal government was poised to bring in back to work legislation.

Most observers expect the same thing will happen with the flight attendants.
