What's that pong wafting up from the foot of the basement stairs? Oh, right. It's hockey season. "There's so much humour in odour," says Rob Sweetman, art director at Rethink Communications in Vancouver. The agency has created viral videos and in-rink posters for Gear Drop, a small Vancouver company whose mission is the drying and storing of between-game stinky stuff for the beer league players at Burnaby 8 Rinks. There's a great deal of, um, spewing in the videos, which Mr. Sweetman describes as "gross but funny." The goalie poster, by contrast, evokes Ken Danby's At the Crease, albeit with a gas mask instead of a goalie mask. "I wanted it to feel kind of classy," Mr. Sweetman says of the image. On that point, Gear Drop notes on its website that players can't leave any old stuff in their gear bags. "Beer cans or bottles left in your bag will be removed and most likely not returned." To see the video, search for "Gear Drop" on YouTube.com.
