Only one of five Canadian business schools gained ground in this year's ranking of global MBA programs released today by the Financial Times newspaper.
Among Canadian schools, bragging rights go to the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management, which moved up two spots to 44th among 100 schools in the world and 20th in North America, up three places.
The business school also placed 10th for its faculty-produced research, its highest ranking ever in this category, and 15th for its PhD program.
The other Canadian schools, in order, are York University's Schulich School of Business (59th spot compared to 49th last year); McGill University's Desautels Faculty of Management (in a four-way tie for 61st spot compared to 57th last year); the University of Western Ontario's Ivey School of Business (68th spot compared to 46th last year) and the University of British Columbia's Sauder School of Business (82nd spot compared to 80th last year).
The ranking is a combination of data gathered from participating schools and alumni from the class that graduates three years before the survey, according to the London-based financial newspaper.
