Cancer patient 'hoping for turnaround' after Caterpillar layoffs Add to ...

It has been three months since Caterpillar Inc. shuttered its locomotive plant in London, Ontario, citing reasons of cost competitiveness. Former Electro Motive Diesel employee Ralf Zapke, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy as he fights cancer and treatment for a blood disorder, says that while it's been tough since the layoffs, he is thankful he hasn't lost his sick benefits or life insurance
