Freshii Inc. says it is taking its healthy-food eateries across the pond to the United Kingdom.

The Toronto-based eatery has partnered with a local Starbucks and Domino's Pizza franchisee, Anil Patil, who operates 40 and 20 locations of each chain respectively.

Freshii had 244 restaurants in North America, South America and Europe as of Sept. 25, 2016.

It had 11 restaurants in European markets including Austria, Ireland, Sweden and the Netherlands.

Freshii CEO and founder Matthew Corrin said in a statement that the United Kingdom is underserved when it comes to healthy fast-casual food offerings and the company believes there is tremendous opportunity to grow the brand in the region.

Freshii debut on the Toronto Stock Exchange earlier this year and outlined an aggressive expansion plan, aiming to have 840 locations worldwide by the end of 2019.

The iconic Tim Hortons chain of coffee stores has a long history in Canada, growing from a single store in Hamilton. But now thought its growth and a series of mergers, its one pillar of a huge empire of brands that will now include Popeyes.
