Statistics Canada releases its labour force survey for October. Economists expect the unemployment rate to rise to 8.5 per cent from 8.4 per cent, and the economy to gain about 10,000 jobs.

U.S. Federal Reserve posts consumer credit data for September. A drop of $10-billion (U.S.) is expected, compared with a decline of $12.3-billion the previous month.

U.S. Commerce reports on wholesale inventories for September. Economists expect a drop of 1 per cent, compared with a 1.3-per-cent decline the previous month.

The U.S. Department of Labour releases employment data for October. Economists expect non-farm payrolls to decline by 175,000, manufacturing payrolls to fall by 47,000, and a jobless rate of 9.9 per cent, up from 9.8 per cent the previous month. It also reports on average hourly earnings, expected to rise 0.1 per cent month-over-month and 2.3 per cent year-over-year; and average weekly hours worked.
