Maurice Strong is an entrepreneur and environmentalist, who got his start in the petroleum industry - he was president of Power Corporation in the 1960s before becoming heavily involved with the United Nations and leading the long march to the Kyoto Accord.

Mr. Strong was the first executive director of the United Nations Environment Programme, and Secretary-General of the UN Conference on the Human Environment in the 1970s. He is currently president of the Council of the United Nations's University for Peace.
